Basics About Blogs

The videos below with give you a start on understanding the concepts.

Blogs Defined

*     A blog is a little like a journal.  It has articles called "posts" or "entries" that have the date written at the top.  Today's post would be at the top of a page, and a post from last week would be farther down.

*     To see previous posts you scroll down the page.  When you get to the bottom there will also be words like "previous posts" where you can click.

*     At the bottom of each post is a place where you can click to write a comment.  This is not a place to advertise your business but a place to write something useful or encouraging about the information in the post above.

*     Blogs are often written in an informal, conversational style.  Some blogs are personal diaries and others, like blogs at the Wall Street Journal, are for business.  There are blogs about every subject from travel, to cooking, politics, healthcare, investing, hobbies, and so on.

*     Because the writer of the blog creates a new post, or article, frequently, there is new material regularly, often daily.

*     Software and hosting is available for free online for people who would like to start a blog.

*     Several places that offer free software and hosting for blogs include the following.
